I needed to create a drupal site where email addresses were usernames. Username settings in drupal don’t allow for email address characters, so setting the username to the email address wasn’t an option. Like most things drupal, turns out there’s a module for that. It has a drupal 5, 6 and 7 version, and the…
Last week Irish Titan launched beebolt.com. A store run by Kate Grussing that tracks down the best in fabrics, sewing patterns, quilting products, and sewing books so you only need to go to one site to get you hobby needs. The site is built on magento 1.5.0.1. It has a standard custom theme and a…
I added downloadable products to a store, but wasn’t able to check out with them. They were straight-forward products with a single pdf as the sample and downloadable product. Everything looked fine, but when I added the product to the cart, it threw this error: Look at /app/code/core/Mage/Downloadable/Product/Type.php line 326 [sourcecode language=”php”] /** * Check…
I just spent 20min. troubleshooting some ImageCache settings in drupal that could have been easily solved by paying more attention to readme.txt files. I created an few imagecache profiles. One for my thumbnail images, and another for the full sized images. I wanted scaling and cropping on them so they all turned out the same…
I had an interesting challenge of dealing with magento quantities in decimals. The site needed to be able to allow for quantities of a min of .5 in increments of .25. At first glance, it looked like allow decimals in admin combined with qty increments would work. Well, the words made me think it would…
So, drupal + ubercart is quite a powerful, simple e-commerce solution. Buzz Hockey (www.buzzhockey.com) a hockey training company in Minneapolis is a good example of how you can use drupal and ubercart for event registrations. It’s not much different then adding a product, you do need to add the node checkout module to ubercart though. …
The Ducks Unlimited Store is a decent example of a magento site that was expanded upon using magento’s good code model to fill the needs of a higher end client. The store sells Ducks Unlimited Apparel including Men’s Camo Hoodies, dog embroidered clothing, and many other items. They have an ERP that needs to talk…
So, I do a few of my sites in the LiveEdit CMS. It’s a really user friendly CMS with a support team and call center behind it, so it works well for clients that like to be able to pick up a phone when they have a question about updating their site. Of course, this…
Ubercart is a pretty powerful drupal module for e-commerce. I recently had to deal with event registration using this module. I played around a lot and learned a lot, but the core of what you can do is summed up in this blog from a ubercart developer: http://drupaleasy.com/blogs/ultimike/2009/03/event-registration-ubercart
So, I needed to update a magento adminhtml grid. I took a look at the database and it seemed pretty simple. There is a table with all of the main information, and a history table that is referenced when an addHistory function is called on the collection. The old add history function looked like this….
